In order to beat your competition, it is not only necessary to rank good, but to also keep top position with search engines.

Blogging is also very good link building strategy. Create lots of themed blogs on various websites and link them all to your website. Many websites that host Wordpress blogs will allow you to create your own blog.
As for articles, you can submit them to top article directories like ezinearticles, goarticles, article dashboard, etc. but you have to change every article a little bit so it won’t be recognized as duplicate content.
